Sales orders are the lifeline of a company. Therefore it is important to manage the sales order process effectively. Jaros’ Order Management module includes quotes, sales orders, deliveries, pricing and discounting and order holds. In addition, if Jaros’ Inventory Module is installed, COGS information is available within sales orders as well.
Some of the questions that our customers get answers to are:
- What is my current backlog?
- What are my sales, cost of sales and margins by customer … by sales rep … by product line?
- What are my expected sales, cost of sales and margins in the pipeline?
- How much margin did I make off of this sales order?
- How profitable is this product line?
- What does my on-time customer performance look like?
- What are my lead times?
- What is the status of this order?
- Why is this order on hold?
- Which sales rep does this order belong to?
- Who all participated in the sale of the order?
- What is the list and selling price of this order?
- What is the list and selling price for all items for this particular customer?
- What are my credit risk holds currently?
- I need to see sales orders more frequently than daily.
- What are my margins before I ship product?
One of our customers realized on-time customer performance of a specific category of customers was not being served appropriately. The results showed their commercial customers were receiving their orders within the normal constraints of on-time performance, but their government customers were not. They were able to put an initiative together to better service the needs of their government customers. Another customer wanted to get price lists of products that were specific to a customer. For example, they wanted to know the list price and selling price of each item that a customer could buy either at the ship-to or the customer level. Our solution was able to provide this information because of our ability to call Oracle’s pricing engine API. Again, this is functionality right out of the box. Having real-time order information can be invaluable. Our customers don’t want to wait until the next day to see what they booked or shipped; they want to see it in a reasonable timeframe. With the Jaros solution, customers get real-time information including order and shipment information. Our customers also want delivery information which tells when product was shipped and thus gives us on-time performance. And since we put the cost of sales on each order line, our customers can see cost of sales and gross margin information at a very detailed level.
